One of the things that never ceases to amaze is the way that people will ASSUME that they've found the "secrets" of Freemasonry which - coincidentally - just happen to support some pet theory they've concocted. In the classic "shoot the arrow then draw the target" metaphor, they'll find layer upon layer of material they'll claim supports their ideas - and that Masons have been keeping this secret forever (or, in a very ironic twist of logic, that even the Masons didn't know about it!). When we started this site we simply lumped these folks in with anti-Masons: after all, they'd often argue vociferously with Masons about various symbols, books, etc. In reality, however, there are some who really aren't negative about Freemasonry: they just know that they understand more about the organization than its members do - or that the members are all keeping some secret out of their reach.
